Getting a Rhode Island marriage license
Go to your city hall with your birth certificates and picture IDs. Additionally, bring divorce or decrees from previous marriages. You also must fill out an Rhode Island marriage license application/worksheet.
There is no waiting period, and the cost is $24. Additionally, you may apply for up to 90 days before your ceremony date.
After the ceremony, your officiant has 72 hours to submit the license to town hall. This is part of our officiating service at New England Ceremonies.

Things to know about a legal RI marriage
Remember, you need to bring your marriage license to the officiant on your wedding day. The wedding officiant fills out the remainder of the form and signs it. Rhode Island law requires ceremonies to have two witnesses who are over 18 years old. The witnesses also sign the license.
After the ceremony, the officiant will file the license with your town hall on the following business day. The legal marriage certificate will then be available. Finally, have a professional officiant fill it out, because Rhode Island is very picky about perfection. This is part of our services for your wedding day.
If you’re ready to get married, get started at your town hall! Be sure to go together, bring your drivers licenses, and any death or divorce decrees from any previous marriages. This is the first step on your marriage journey!
